Front Gate Entrance News & Update

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to update you regarding the front gate entrance area. The Lake and Landscape Committee submitted their recommendations to the Board and they were approved. Next week Mike is scheduled to begin the much-needed revitalization.

We have already accomplished several things that needed to take place first, such as fixing a significant water leak at the northwest portion of the property (this was accomplished by replacing a cracked valve that had been damaged for quite some time). We also replaced the non-functioning irrigation control box so the sprinklers can function. Those items took some time to fix and we can now proceed forward.

There’s much work to do and will take a few years to fully restore the area. The Lake and Landscape Committee was careful to balance the most important (and highest impact) improvements to be done now so we can set the stage for future enhancements. As we know, having a well maintained, great looking entrance is quintessential for the look and feel of our community and most important to retain high property values!

The improvements for this year include:

  • Bark mulch to be blown in for the front gate area, west-side berm, and on both sides of the main road.
  • Trim (if possible) and/or remove 6-7 cedar trees from entrance area. The goal is to improve line-of sight to on-coming Redland Road traffic and improve safety for residents and guests.
  • Connect white fence from gate entrance to the white fence paralleling Redland Road. Approximately 70’ of fence. This will help hide the power/utility boxes and add to the overall appeal of entrance. Additional plants will be added after installation to further enhance/awaken the area.
  • Fix the white fence and remove the dead trees behind the monument sign.
  • Remove all dead plants in the front gate area.
  • Put down gravel at edge of blacktop on both sides by front gate area.
  • New plants for front gate area - will evaluate what is needed once dead plants are removed, cedar trees are trimmed/removed, and new white fence is installed.
  • Restore the drain trench and install rocks on the east side of gate entrance where it’s been washed out.
  • Painting of vehicle entrance gates (still TBD time-wise).

Lastly, the following items are scheduled to be done as well:
Remove the two dead trees at the entrance of the swimming hole.
Add additional bark mulch to the walking path around the lake (mostly the path along the dam and around the outlet area). Mike is helping to source chips at no cost to us.

We will keep you updated as we progress forward! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
